Round 6 - Report

Today was the sixth day of 2022 European Youth Chess Championship and we are going into the last three rounds in many categories things are becoming clearer.

In the U8-Open group, Uzdemir(TUR) played with the current leader Shogdzhiev(FID). With black pieces Uzdemir(TUR) lost advantage with losing pawn in the middlegame; however, he tricked his opponent with center pawns and managed to get a win. Uzdemir(TUR) and Llari(FRA) are sharing the leadership with 5,5 points. In the U8-Girls group, two players with 5 points Kokareva(FID) and Rzadkowska(POL) faced on today. Kokareva(FID) played a brilliant game and beat her opponent with taking the lead in the opening.

4 players were leading the U10-Open group before sixth round. In the first board Kurt(TUR) and Gabadadze(GEO) had a draw after 72 moves while Yilmaz(TUR) managed to win and became the sole leader for his group. In the U10-Girls group, Lampou(GRE) and Mirzaliyeva(AZE) face in the first board and it resulted with draw so two players are sharing the leadership with 5,5 points.

Ahmad(AZE), Ghazaryan(ARM) and Karaca(TUR) have won their games and going into last 3 rounds with being the leaders of U12-Open group. Sole leader of the U12-Girls group Preobrazhenskaya(FID) got another victory and going to the last 3 rounds with 5,5 points.

In the U14-Open group IM Gurel(TUR) had perfect score before sixth round and faced with FM Cnejev(ROU) in the first board. Gurel(TUR) had a slight advantage after the opening but his opponent hold the position with strong defensive play and the game ended with a draw. In the U14-Girls group, Kirtadze(GEO) managed to win over WFM Kleymenova(FID), who had a perfect score before the round, and take the sole leadership with 5,5 points.

In the U16-Open group, Malek(POL) has shocked the FM Macias(ESP) with beating him with the black pieces and going into the last 3 rounds with being the sole leader of his group. WFM Schippke(FRA) had a draw against second seed WFM Karacsonyi(HUN) and remains the sole leader in U16-Girls group.

In the U18-Open group IM Gharibyan(ARM) had a victory and becomes the sole leader with 5,5 points. In the U18-Girls group, WIM Mkrtchyan(ARM) has beaten WIM Hryzlova(UKR) and going to the last 3 rounds with sole leader of her group with 5,5 points.

The seventh round of the championship will start on Friday at 15:00 local time. We wish good luck to all players!
