Round 6 - Report

Today was the sixth day of 2022 European Youth Chess Championship and we are going into the last three rounds in many categories things are becoming clearer.

In the U8-Open group, Uzdemir(TUR) played with the current leader Shogdzhiev(FID). With black pieces Uzdemir(TUR) lost advantage with losing pawn in the middlegame; however, he tricked his opponent with center pawns and managed to get a win. Uzdemir(TUR) and Llari(FRA) are sharing the leadership with 5,5 points. In the U8-Girls group, two players with 5 points Kokareva(FID) and Rzadkowska(POL) faced on today. Kokareva(FID) played a brilliant game and beat her opponent with taking the lead in the opening.

Fifth Round

Today was the fifth day of 2022 European Youth Chess Championship. After 5 rounds, 9 players in the 7 categories heading to the last 4 rounds with perfect score.

In the U8-Open group, Shogdzhiev(FID) won against his opponent after a good pawn sacrifice and taking initiative. He remains the only player with perfect score in U8-Open group. In the U8-Girls group, second seed player Kokareva(FID) and Rzadkowska(POL) has beaten their opponents and sharing the leadership with perfect score.

In the U10-Open group, 4 Turkish players played in the first 2 boards. In the first board, there was a hard struggle in the game and it ended with a draw after 53 moves. In the second board, Celebi(TUR) managed to get a win against Unsal(TUR) and also Gabadadze(GEO) joins these 3 players in the leadership with 4,5 points. In the U10-Girls group, Lampou(GRE) and Mirzaliyeva(AZE) are leading their category with perfect score.

Fourth Round

Things are heating up in Antalya! Many favorites hold on to their grounds whereas others lose points here and there. Still everything to play for!

4 players are going with perfect score in U8-Open group, while 3 players have won their all matches in U8-Girls group. The Turkish domination continues in U10-Open group, where 2 Turkish players Kurt(TUR) and Yilmaz(TUR) remain the only players with full points and 2 Turkish players Unsal(TUR) and Celebi(TUR) continue with 2,5 point. In the fourth round, 4 Turkish players are playing in the first two boards. In the U10-Girls group, Zavivaeva(FID) won against the top seed player Bassari(TUR) and continues with perfect score with two players.
